Mod Announcement: Updated and Simplified Rules

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 12:31 PM PST

Since we've gained a million or so subscribers since the past rule refresh, the mod team has done a quick update. The new rules have been updated in the sidebar, so I'm just going to highlight the changes here. In addition to our rules, obviously the reddit content policy applies to all posts and comments here.

Rule 5 is a new rule and largely based on the current political climate. Any post featuring a firearm, flag, religious or political symbol that DOESN'T violate the content policy will be locked immediately - meaning there will be no discussion in the comments. No matter how many times we say it, these threads get political and people get banned. It's simply not possible to keep these types of project posts focused on Woodworking. It should go without saying any symbols of hate speech will be removed.

Note this is not a political stance by the moderation team. This is a woodworking subreddit. There are plenty of other places to debate politics. Feel free to crosspost to any of those places and discuss your political views as you see fit.

Rule 1: This is a PG-13 subreddit. Anything you shouldn't say in a room full of 7th graders you can't say here. That means any kind of innuendo will get you banned.

Also don't confuse negative criticism with being rude. This isn't a safe space where everything has to be a compliment, but you can't insult people. If something sucks, detail why it sucks. If you can't, maybe just move along.

Rule 2 - Nothing changed here, but we remove a lot of threads because of this. If you didn't make it, you can't post it.

Rule 9 - Title gore. Going forward including your Youtube channel name, IG handle, or other social media info in the title will get your post removed. In addition, don't include your age, gender, or experience level in the title.

And to everyone that responded to the Moderator application, you will be hearing from us soon. We got a lot of great responses and are going through them now.

I still feel this is one of the best places online to share woodworking content and looking forward to what the future holds.

Getting close to wrapping up this maple sofa table for the mother in law! My lumber yard doesnt cary anything thicker than 15/16 so I had to laminate 3 pieces together to get the 2 1/4" legs. This was also the first time I've tried out tapered legs. They turned out great after 3 tries!

A white oak bourbon set I made a few years back with a charred white oak inlay and wrap around the rocks glasses. The white oak was donated by a park after a storm and our task was to transform it into something of value to be auctioned off raising money for the park recovery.
